This brief is from Suzuki, a CEO for a restaurant chain based in Queensland, Australia named 'Hot Noodle'. She is looking for a digital solution based on bullying and harassment within the workplace. Her team are based all around Queensland and work in a fast-paced environment, with her staff being generally university students. Ultimately, the goal is how to transform this typically dry topic in an interactive and engaging way.

Questions to address within the brief

The solution should cover the following three questions:

  • Why this solution was chosen

  • Why this specific approach is recommend

  • How the choice of tool and the recommended approach helps Hot Noodle meet their compliance needs

My Solution

For my solution, I proposed an engaging, interactive and gamified Articulate Storyline 360 course which, thanks to JavaScript, features a live course leaderboard.

Keep reading for your chance to give the course a whirl yourself!

Why this solution was chosen:

"Arise the noodle hero" is an engaging, interactive and gamified solution built in articulate storyline 360. The course leverages variables and JavaScript throughout to create a truly bespoke experience for hot noodle employees, including a course leader board. The course is responsive and can be used across any device, however, is optimised for mobile access.

Why this specific approach is recommend

Hot Noodle is committed to ensuring each of their noodle masters are comfortable to themselves at work, irrespective of their cultural background. Even though they have received minimal reports of bullying and harassment, they believe that diversity, inclusiveness and respect is fundamental to their success.

"Arise the Noodle Hero" has been branded in a way to inspire each noodle master to take up the challenge and ensure workplace bullying and harassment, irrespective of cultural backgrounds, is eradicated from hot noodle. "Arise the Noodle Hero" recaps essential information which employees need to know about when it comes to workplace bullying and harassment, including hot noodles' core values. This approach ensures that each noodle master is aware of their responsibilities, what is and isn't defined as workplace bullying, and what to do if they are experiencing or witnessing workplace bullying.

The course uses purposeful micro animations, interactions and sound effects to surprise and delight the learners to create moments that inspires emotion, engages and rewards them, whilst making the experience more human. by Leveraging JavaScript, the course is connected to google sheets allowing for live tracking and creation of a bespoke course leader board to further drive engagement.

How the choice of tool and the recommended approach helps Hot Noodle meet their compliance needs

Thanks to "Arise the Noodle Hero" being designed as an eLearning course, it is deployable in Hot Noodles’ learning management system and is SCORM compliant. The course recaps essential information as required by Hot Noodles’ local government and thus meets their compliance needs, but in an interactive and engaging manner. Employees of Hot Noodle will be intrinsically and extrinsically motivated throughout the course due to its purposeful branding which inspires collegiality, micro animations, leader board and overall design approach. Each Restaurant leadership team will have access to the Google Sheet to track their teams’ results, in real-time, allowing them to engage in conversations offline, should a Noodle Master not complete the course.
